Ingredients
- Crust:
- 2 (20 oz.) cans tart cherries (4 cups drained)
- 1-1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 teaspoon red food coloring
- 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
- 2/3 cup vegetable shortening
- 1/2 cup cream
- 1 tablespoon butter melted

Preparation
Step 1
Crust:
Blend flour and vegetable shortening, salt and powdered sugar with pastry blender until mixture has consistency of coarse meal. Add cream 1 tablespoon at a time over mixture and tossing with fork.
Pie Filling:
Mix all ingredients and fill pie crust.
