Ingredients
- 1 cup margarine/butter room temp.
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 large egg yolks
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 10 oz. red current jelly or red respberry preserves
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 4 large egg whites
- 2 cups finely chopped walnuts/almonds
- 1 cup sugar

Step 1
Cream butter with 1/2 cup sugar. Beat in egg yolks and salt. Gradually add flour while mixing. When mixture becomes hard to stir, knead with fingerrs to make smooth dough. Pat dough evenly in greased 12X17" jelly roll pan or greased baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 min. at 350 degrees until lightly browned. Remove and spread jelly and chocolate bits over top. In a large bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks hold when beater is lifted. Fold in chopped nuts and 1 cup of sugar. Gently spread over jelly and chocolate.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25 min. until lightly brown. Cook 15 min. Serve warm. Cut into bars
