Ingredients

  • 3 lb. (1,5 kg) chicken
  • 2 qts. water
  • 1 1/2 cup chicken stock
  • 2 cups carrots, chopped
  • 2 cups celery, chopped
  • 1 cup onions, chopped
  • 1 tart apple, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • pepper, to taste
  • 4 cups egg noodles

Preparation

Step 1

Instructions
Put chicken in a large pot with 2 quarts water. Cover and cook about 2½ hours, or until chicken is tender.
Remove chicken from the pot and strain broth.
Debone chicken and return to the pot together with strained broth.
Add chicken stock, carrots, celery, onions, apple, salt and pepper and cook until vegetables are soft.
Add noodles and cook for another 8-10 minutes. Serve hot.
