Paula's Ultimate Oatmeal Cookies

- 1/2 Cup (1 stick) Butter
- 1/2 Cup Crisco Shortening
- 1 1/2 Cups lightly packed Light brown Sugar
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1/2 Cup Buttermilk
- 2 Cups Flour
- 1 tsp. Baking Soda
- 1 tsp. Baking Powder
- 1 tsp. Ground Ginger
- 1 tsp. Nutmeg
- 1 tsp. Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. Ground Allspice
- 1/2 tsp. Salt
- 1/4 tsp. Ground Cloves
- 2 1/2 Cups Quick Cooking Oatmeal (not instant)
- 1 1/2 Cups Chopped Walnuts
- 1 Cup Raisins
- 1 tsp. Vanilla
- Brown Butter Frosting
- 1/2 Cup (1 Stick) Butter
- 3 Cups Confectioners Sugar
- 1 tsp. Vanilla
- 3-4 Tbs. Water to thin frosting

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheets with parchment.
Cream together with mixer, butter, shortening and brown sugar at a low speed until fluffy. Add eggs, mixing after each addition. Add buttermilk and mix well. Sift together the dry ingredients. At low speed slowly add to butter mixture. Using a spatula, blend in oatmeal, walnuts, raisins and vanilla. Drop by rounded teaspoons 1 1/2" apart and bake for 12-15 minutes. While cookies are baking, heat butter in a small saucepan until golden brown, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and vanilla. Stir in enough water to make icing to a drizzling consistency. Drizzle with brown butter icing while cookies are still warm.
