Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter @ room temp
  • 1 pound sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded, at room temp
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper

Step 1

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

In a mixing bowl, cream the butter until fluffy. Add cheddar cheese and mix well. Add flour, salt, and ground red pepper. Mix well. Mixture will form a ball. Refrigerate approx. 1/2 hour. Put in cookie press and pipe short strips onto parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool completely on racks before storing in airtight container.
