**I've noticed it bakes a little better if you bake it at 350 for about 20-25 mins, then reduce the temp and bake it for about 70 mins. Try it either way, since ovens are different, but it WILL still be good either way

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp cloves or allspice
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 20 oz can pumpkin

Preparation

Step 1

1. Grease and flour a tube pan and preheat the oven to 350F.

2. Mix together the dry ingredients; set aside.

3. Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs, creaming well after each addition.

4. Add the vanilla and pumpkin, mixing well.

5. Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the mix.

6. Fill the prepared tube pan with the batter, running a spoon through the mixture to get any air pockets out (or drop in on the counter a few times).

7. Bake for 30 mins.

8. Reduce temperature to 325F and cook for another hour, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
