Ingredients
- Sift together:
- 4 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda

Step 1
Combine juice and rind of 2 oranges with 4 tbsp. shortening. Add enough boiling water to make 1 1/2 cups. Add 2 beaten eggs. Blend this mixture with sifted dry ingredients. Add 2 cups of nuts and 2 cups of raw cranberries that have been cut in half. Pour batter into bread pans (2) that have been well greased. Let stand for 20 minutes.
Bake at 350 degrees for 60 minutes, glass pans 3255 degrees, check bread as it sometimes cooks quicker.
