Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 1/4 c buyyer
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1 (20 0z) can pineapple rings
  • maraschino cherries
  • Cake:
  • 2 c flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 1 c sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350º. Topping: melt butteer in 13 x 9 metal pan on stove top. Remove from heat ad stir in brown sugar. Drain pineapple rings reserve 1/2 c juice. Fit rings tightly into bottom of pan. You will need 10 to 12 rings. Put cherry in center of eeach ring

Make Cake: In bowl whisk flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. In a large bowl beat butter and sugar 2 mins. Add eggs, beat until blended. On low speed, beat in half the flour mixture, Pour in reserved 1/2 c pineapple juice and the milk. Beat tilll blended. Beat in remaining flour mixture, than vanilla. Spread batter into pan. Bake at 350º for 40 mins or till toothpick comes out clean. Cool cake in pan on rack 10 mins. Place baking sheet over cake and carefully invert.
