Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs separated
- 1 tlb water
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 7 oz chocolate chips
- 1 cup brown sugar for meringue

Step 1
Bake at 350
Cream shortening and proceed as for any other cookie. Press mixture into a greased cookie sheet including sides.
Sprinkle on the bits. Beat egg whites and salt with brown sugar. Spread on top of mixture and bake 20 minutes.
Cream shortening then add sugar, then add eggs and water and vanilla. In separate bowl combine flour, salt, soda, powder. Gradually add to flour mixture to mixing bowl.
** Last time used:
1/2 c butter
1/2 c shortening
- Added nuts because only had approx.4 ounces chocolate chips and added a little liquid non-sweet chocolate.
