Ingredients
- 1/2 C pasta shells
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 C onion, chopped
- 1 C potato, cubed
- 1 C carrot, sliced
- 1/2 C celery, diced
- 1 large can tomatoes (2 1/2 cups)
- 1/4 C rice
- 1 C shredded cabbage
- 1/4 cup rice
- 3 t salt
- 1/2 t pepper
- dash pepper
- 1 small bay leaf
- 1/2 t thyme
- 1/4 t basil
- 1-1/2 qt. water

Step 1
Cook pasta according to package directions.
Meanwhile, in a soup kettle or large saucepan, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain.
Stir in the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer 1 hour.
Drain pasta and add to the pan. Cook 5 minutes longer or until heated through.
