- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cups all-vegetable shortening
- 1 large egg
- 6 to 8 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar
- 1 teaspoon salt

Step 1
1. In a large bowl, combine flour and shortening until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
2. In a 2-cup liquid measuring cup, combine egg, water, vinegar, and salt, beating lightly.
3. Make a well in the center of flour mixture, and add egg mixture, working into flour until a dough forms. Divide dough into 4 equal pieces. Shape each into a ball. Place each ball in a bowl, and cover each bowl loosely with a cloth. Refrigerate overnight.
