Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1/4 tsp. sal
  • 5 tbsp. shortening
  • 1/2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. plus 1 tbsp. pastry flour
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. raisins
  • 2 nd part
  • 1 tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. icing sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. boiling water
  • few drops vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

375 F oven.

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg. Work in the flour and salt.

Press down in greased 8 x 8 pan.

Melt shortening and chocolate over hot water, gradually adding the sugar. Beat well. Cool. Add slightly beaten egg. Mix. Add sifted dry ingredients. Blend. Add vanilla and raisins. Spread this over the crust.

Bake 35 -45 minutes. Cool.

Mix the cocoa and icing sugar. Add boiling water and vanilla.

Spread over cooled square.


Let set and then cut into fingers.
