Ingredients

  • Praline topping:
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 Tblsp vanilla extract
  • 2 Tblsp. sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 8 lrg eggs
  • 2 cups half and half
  • butter (for pan)
  • 1 loaf french bread
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 Tblsp. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

Preparation

Step 1

Slice french bread into 20 pieces, approx 1" thick. Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9x13 baking dish in 2 rows, overlaping the slices.

In a large bowl, combine the eggs, half and half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Beat with wisk until blended but not too bubbly. Pour mixture over the bread slices making sure all are covered evenly with the milk egg mixture. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

Next day preheat oven to 350. Spread praline topping over the bread and bake for 45 minutes.
