Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 2 t. baking powder
- 1/4 t. salt
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 T. cocoa powder
- 1/2 c. milk
- 2 T. shortening, melted
- 1 cup chopped nuts, optional
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 3/4 cups hot water

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 9" square pan.
Mix together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and 2 tablespoons cocoa powder.
Stir in milk and melted shortening, mix well well with fork. Blend in nuts.
Spread into prepared pan.
In separate bowl, mix together brown sugar, sugar and cocoa powder and sprinkle over the batter.
Pour the hot water over the top. DO NOT MIX IN.
Bake 45 minutes.
Serve inverted on plates or in bowls over vanilla ice cream.
