Ingredients

  • l large flank steak, about 1 1/2 pounds
  • All-Purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Hot bouillon or water
  • Salt Cooked rice

Preparation

Step 1

Pound flank steak with flour, ginger,and pepper (mixed.) Cut steak into 3-inch strips.

Heat oil in deep skillet or Dutch oven. Brown steak strips on both sides. Add onion, garlic, thyme and just enough hot bouillon to cover steak.

Cook, covered, over low heat or in pre-heated 325 degree oven for 1 1/2-2 hours, or until meat is tender. Check liquid; if necessary, add a little more hot bouillon, a little at a time - but never more than enough to cover the meat. Add salt if necessary.

Serve with hot rice.
