Mama’s Ranch Scalloped Potatoes 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • 6 medium Yucan Gold potatoes,peeled,sliced
  • 3 Tbs butter
  • 3 Tbs flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 small onion,finely chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 package Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix
  • 1-2 Tbs butter- for topping

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven 325°F

Grease a 9x13 in baking dish

1. Peel potatoes and cut into thin slices to measure 4 cups.

2. Boil potatoes until cooked but firm. Do not over cook. Drain and set aside to cool.

3. In a sauce pan, melt 3 Tbs butter.Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Cook and stir constantly until mixture is smooth and bubbly then remove from heat.

4. In a small bowl mix milk and Ranch dressing until smooth.

5. Add milk/Ranch mixture to flour.

6. Bring to a boil and sauce thickens. Remove from heat.

7. (3 layers) Arrange first layer of potatoes in baking dish. Top with sauce. Repeat two more layers.

8. Dot last layer with 1-2 Tbs butter- pinch off pieces of each pat of butter.

9. Bake 40 minutes covered then removed foil and bake additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown edges.
