Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 1/2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt (1/4 to 1/3)
  • 1/3 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups bread flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (I used 1 cup bread flour, 2 cups white whole wheat and 1 Tbsp. vital gluten)
  • 1 1/2 tsp. yeast

Step 1

Combine per your machine's instructions or combine everything in bowl. Knead as usual. Do two risings, one in the bowl, one in the pan. Use a 9" pan, bake at 350 for approx 40 minutes. (test for doneness with your preferred method.) Check at about 15-20 minutes and if browning quickly, tent loosely with foil.

Notes: this was quite good and as a bread machine recipe, very easy. Added parmesan and pepper - thought I was adding a lot but didn't taste it much, so would need much more next time. Used for BLTs. Dough in the machine and baked in a bread pan in the oven.
