Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preparation

Step 1

1. Put a rack in the upper third of the oven and preheat the oven to 350. Grease and flour a 9 inch oven proof skillet.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

3. In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachemnt, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3 mintues. Reduce the speed to low and beat in the egg. Add the egg yolk, followed by the vanilla, and beat well. Add the flour mixture and beat on low speed until just combined. Remove the bowl from the mixer, and using a spatula, fold in the chocolate chips. Smooth the batter in the prepared pan.

4. Bake until the cookie is baked on the outside, but still slightly under cooked in the center, 18-20 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve with big scoops of ice cream.
