Ingredients

  • Meatballs:
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/3 C rolled oats
  • 8 oz can water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 1/2 c milk
  • 1 T soy sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 t onion salt
  • 1/2 t garlic salt
  • Sauce:
  • 8 oz can crushed pineapple
  • 1 C packed brown sugar
  • 3 T corn starch
  • 1 C beef bouillon
  • 1/2 C white vinegar
  • 2 T soy sauce
  • 1/3 C chopped Green pepper (I use green onions)

Preparation

Step 1

In medium bowl combine all meatball ingredients. Shape into desired size and brown on stove-top or bake in oven.

Sauce:
Drain pineapple, reserving juice. In medium saucepan: combine brown sugar, corn starch; stir in juice, bouillon, and soy sauce. Heat to boiling. Stirring constantly until thick and clear; boil one minute. Stir in pineapple and green pepper (or green onion). add sauce to meatballs. Simmer for about 10 minutes. Serve Hot.

Tip: can combine in slow cooker (low heat) Meatballs can also be made ahead of time and frozen; thaw and reheat sauce.
