Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup margarine
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1-1/2 cups flour
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts (or any nuts)
  • 1/3 cup jam (any flavor)

Preparation

Step 1

Beat together margarine and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg yolks, vanilla and salt. Gradually stir in flour. Form dough into 1 inch balls. Dip in lightly beaten egg whites, then roll in nuts. Place one inch apart on non-stick cookie sheet. Press down center of each with thumb. Bake for 16-18 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes then remove to a wire rack to cool completely. Just before serving fill centers of cookies with jam.
