Preparation
Step 1
In a large skillet, heat 1/4 cup of olive oil and brown onions, garlic and peppers. Once brown, pour into Dutch Oven.
Then cut 10 thin slices from the Jimmy Dean sausage tube and brown both sides in the skillet. DO NOT COOK ALL THE WAY. Just brown both sides. Remove and set aside.
In Skillet, brown the ground beef and the rest of the pork and drain. Move to Dutch oven.
In a Dutch oven, combine browned beef and sausage, garlic, onion and peppers. Then stir in Sauce, oregano and basil. Simmer, uncovered, 10-15 minutes.
In 13x9 foil pan or baking dish cover the bottom with overlapping cooked and rinsed Lasagna noodles, then cover noodles with browned sausage slices, then ladle in some meat sauce and top with cheese mixture and spread. Cover with overlapping noodles and repeat in layers cutting to fit as needed. Finish with noodles on top and spoon on some spaghetti sauce and sprinkle fresh parmesan & asiago cheese on the top.
Cover in foil and heat in oven on 375 degrees for 30 minutes, un-cover and heat for another 10 minutes.
THIS WILL MAKE TWO 13"x9" Lasagnas, one to serve and one to freeze. When cooking frozen Lassagna, add 45 minutes to cook time.
