Ingredients
- 8 slices of bacon, cut crosswise into 1/4-inch strips
- 2 1/2 lb. butternut squash, peeled, seeded and cut into 1/2-inch dice
- 1 small granny smith apple, peeled, cored and cut into 1/2 dice
- 1 1/2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh sage leaves
- 1 teas. kosher salt
- 1/2 teas freshly ground black pepper
- 4 cups low-salt chicken or vegetable broth
- optional toasted almonds or pumpkin seeds

Step 1
