Ingredients

  • 4 c warm water
  • 3 Tbsp dry yeast
  • 2/3 c sugar
  • 1/3 c vegetable oil
  • 4 tsp salt
  • 8-9 c flour

Preparation

Step 1

Dissolve yeast and sugar in large mixing bowl in the water.

Let stand for 5 minutes.

*If using a heavy-duty mixer, mix in remaining ingredients all at once and knead on medium speed 5-7 minutes, until dough is smooth and elastic.

Brush oil on top of the dough and cover with a cloth.

Let rise until doubled.

Punch down and shape into 3 loaves.

Pace in greased bread pans and cover with a cloth.

Let raise until almost doubled

Bake in 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Remove from pans and brush top of loaves with melted margarine.

*For wheat bread: Use all of part wheat flour instead of all white flour. Knead 10-12 minutes in mixer. If mixing by hand, stir in flour until stiff enough to knead.
