Preparation

Step 1

1. Remove all visible fat from the chicken and toss it in the Crockpot. Place the onion slices on top of the chicken. Pour the barbecue sauce over top. You may not need the entire jar, just enough to cover the chicken. Cook it on LOW for 8 hours or until the chicken is nice and tender.

2. Shred the chicken with a fork and knife; scoop the mixture onto the bottom buns and top it with the top buns. Or, if you're like my dad, you might prefer leaving the breasts whole and eating it that way.

Notes: The family loved this recipe! I made with " Sweet Baby Ray's" BBQ sauce, and served over Southern Hoe cake(Southern Hoe Cakes)rather than hamburg buns. Great recipe!

This makes wonderful, tasty, flavorful BBQ sandwiches! It is so easy, you won't believe it - perfect for a weekday meal, for entertaining (because you do not have to cook, while guests are there), and the recipe could easily be adjusted for a large crowd. The only things that I did differently was sprinkle the chicken breasts with garlic salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper; add a few dahses of hot sauce to the BBQ sauce; and throw in some diced green chiles for the last 1/2 hour of cooking time(I, too, shredded the meat during the last 1/2 of cooking time, so that the meat could soak up the sauce and flavors). Served it with BBQ beans and corn, which was perfect with it. Wonderful, simple recipe - thanks for sharing a great idea!

This is great for an easy meal and my family loved it. I used frozen chicken breasts and used the leftovers for nachos the next day. Thanks for the recipe
