BAKED FRENCH TOAST

- 3 tbsp butter, melted
- 1/2 golden brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 8 , 1" slices French bread
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup light cream (10%)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup orange juice

Step 1
Spread the melted butter in a 9 x 13" baking pan or casserole. Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle half of it evenly into the bottom of the pan.
Place the bread slices in a single layer into the pan, squeezing them in to make them fit if necessary.
Place the eggs in a medium bowl. Beat until the yolks and whites are thoroughly combined, and then mix in the cream, milk and orange juice.
Slowly pour this mixture over the bread, ensuring each slice gets evenly coated. Sprinkle the top of the bread with remaining brown sugar mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
The next morning, set the oven rack in the middle of the oven and preheat the oven to 375F. Uncover and bake the French toast for 25 minutes.
Turn the oven to broil and broil the French toast for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Serve warm with maple syrup.
