Microwave Caramel from Sweetened Condensed Milk

By

This method is courtesy of Borden's Eagle Brand Milk. You may be wondering to yourself, "do I really need to use a 2 quart cup?" Why yes, yes you do. Believe me, my microwave no longer trusts me.

Preparation

Step 1

1. Pour 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk into 2-quart glass measuring cup.
2. Cook on 50% power (medium) 4 minutes, stirring briskly every 2 minutes until smooth.
3. Cook on 30% power (medium-low) 18 to 26 minutes or until desired thickness and caramel-coloring, stirring briskly every 4 minutes during the first 16 minutes and every 2 minutes for the last 4 to 10 minutes. The longer you cook it, the thicker and stiffer it will become. Make sure to use potholders when removing the glass measuring cup from the microwave, as it will be hot.
