- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 pound fresh cranberries
- 1/4 orange -- peel of (sliced and scraped)
- 1/2 lemon -- peel of (sliced and scraped)
- 1 1/2 cup alcohol (vodka or grain)

Step 1
Put the sugar and water in a sauce pan and heat over a medium heat until it comes to a boil. Stir occasionally and continue to boil about 3 minutes. Let it cool. Wash cranberries and coarsely chop in blender or food processor. Add all the ingredients to the alcohol. Steep for 4 weeks.
Strain out chunks. For best clarity, pour through a coffee filter. If more sweetener is required, add more sugar syup to taste and mature for another week.
