Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pound beef chuck
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 6 small onions
- 2 large potatoes -- cut in chunks
- 3 large carrots -- cut in chunks
- 3 garlic cloves -- minced
- 2 cups turnips -- diced
- 3 cups water
- 1 1/4 cup beef stock
- 1 cup canned tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 whole bay leaf
- 1/2 teaspoon grated orange rind -- (optional)

Preparation
Step 1
Remove all visible fat from beef; cut beef into 1-in/2.5 cm cubes. In large casserole or Dutch oven, toss beef with flour. Add remaining ingredients; stir to mix. Bake, covered, in 325F/160C oven for 3 hours, stirring occasionally (if you remember). Remove bay leaf.
