  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine -- room temperature
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 8 oz. package cream cheese -- room temperature
  • 1 3 oz. package cream cheese -- room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 1/3 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 12 filo dough sheets -- thawed
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine -- melted
  • TO DECORATE
  • powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 375F. In a medium bowl, beat butter or margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition. beat in cream cheese until smooth. Beat in whipping cream and lemon peel until combined. Fold in raisins and walnuts..

Unfold filo sheet; cover with a slightly damp towel. Place a dry towel on a flat surface. Lay a filo sheet on towel; brush with melted butter or margarine. Place another filo sheet next to first sheet, overlapping edges by 2-1/2 inches. Brush second sheet with melted butter or margarine. Top with remaining 10 filo sheets arranging same way, brushing each one with melted butter or margarine. Reserve some melted butter or margarine for finished strudel.

Spread filling over buttered filo sheets, leaving a 2-inch border around edge. Fold in edges. From one short end, carefully roll up strudel, jelly-roll style. Using towel, place fille strudel, seam side down on greased baking sheet. Brush with remaining melted butter or margarine.

Bake in preheated oven 40 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature. Sift powdered sugar over strudel before serving.
