Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • 1 Tablespoon (scant) yeast
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 5 cups bread flour
  • 2 cups flour -- (approx)
  • 1 egg -- beaten, for glaze

Preparation

Step 1

1. Dissolve yeast in water (all of it).

2. Add eggs, sugar, oil.

3. Mix to blend (whisk).

4. Add flour and salt (dough hook).

5. Spray inside of large bowl, add dough and cover tightly with saran. Let rise till doubled in size.

6. Punch down, let rise till doubled in size again.

7. Shape into challahs and leave to rise 30 minutes. Brush with egg, let dry and brush again.

8. Preheat oven to 400. Bake for 10 minutes, reduce heat to 375, bake until internal temperature is 200.
