Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil, butter or margarine -- melted

Preparation

Step 1

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix flours, sugar, baking soda and salt. Stir

in buttermilk and oil.

2. Shape dough into 6 balls. Roll each ball into 9-inch square on lightly floured cloth- covered board.

3. Cut into 2-1/4-inch squares; brush with butter. Place squares on ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with coarse salt or sesame or poppy seed if desired.

4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until crisp and golden. ABOUT 8 DOZEN CRACKERS
