Ingredients

  • Excellent caramel flavor.
  • 1 1/2 cups dark-brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. corn syrup
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Step 1

Mix all the ingredients except the vanilla in a heavy-bottomed pan. Bring slowly to the boiling point, stirring constantly, and boil for just 1 minute. Cool to lukewarm, add the vanilla, and beat until thick enough to spread. You will have enough to fill and frost an 8 or 9 inch two-layer cake.
