Ingredients

  • Donut
  • 2 c all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c white sugar
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 1/4 t ground nutmeg
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 T shortening
  • 3/4 milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 t vanilla extract
  • Cinnamon Topping
  • 1/2 c butter, melted
  • 1 c brown sugar, packed
  • 2 t cinnamon
  • Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 2 T cream cheese, softened
  • 2 T milk
  • 1 c powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

1.Preheat the oven to 325 degrees
2.Grease the donut pan
3.in a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt
4.cut in shortening with a fork or your fingers
5.in a small bowl combine milk, eggs and vanilla extract
6.gradually pour milk mixture into dry ingredients and mix, dough will be thick
7.spoon into a plastic storage bag and seal closed
8.cut a small corner from the bottom and set aside
9.spoon 1 teaspoon of cinnamon sugar mixture into each of the bottoms of the donut molds
10.squeeze plastic bag to fill donut mold with dough
11.each mold should be filled ¾ of the way
12.bake for 8-10 minutes until the top of the donut bounces back
13.allow donuts to cool for 5-10 min and twist before removing from pan
14.while they cool combine the cream cheese, milk and powdered sugar in a small bowl
15.drizzle or dunk donut into cream cheese frosting.
