Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 6 slices white bread
  • Butter
  • 1/2 C mayonnaise
  • 1 C onions, chopped
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 eggs,slightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 C milk
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

Step 1

Saute the mushrooms in butter, just enough so they start to smell like mushrooms. Combine them with the mayonnaise. Combine them with the mayo, onions, salt and pepper. Butter the bread, cut in 1" squares. Put half the squares in a casserole dish, then put the mushroom mixture on top. Top with the rest of the bread squares. Beat the eggs with the milk and pour over all. Refrigerate overnight.

Preheat to 325 degrees.

Spoon a can of cream of mushroom soup over all and bake 50-60 minutes.
