Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 C all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 C natural bran or all-bran cereal
  • 1/4 C sugar
  • 1 T baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 C butter, cold
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 C milk

Preparation

Step 1

Combine flour, bran, sugar, baking powder and salt in large bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly.

In small bowl beat egg. Mix in milk. Pour into dry ingredients. Stir to make soft dough. Knead gently 8 to 10 times on lightly floured surface. Pat flat and cut in rounds or pat into two 6" circles. Place on greased baking sheets.

Brush tops with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Score each top into 6 pie shaped wedges. Bake in 425F oven for 15 minutes until risen and browned.
