Preparation

Step 1

Directions
Cut figs into small pieces (cut 4 or five time). Then soak figs and raisins together for 2 days with about 10 inches of water above them. (Another recipe said overnight with 4 to 5 inches of water) Then cook them until tender. Remove the figs and raisins and put them in a fine cloth so they can be squeezed and strained. Strain the water that the figs and raisins soaked. When you have gotten as much juice as you can out of the fruit add that juice to the water. Add sugar and stir until mixed. Then put it on the stove on high until it comes to boil. Reduce the heat to medium so it doesn't stop boiling. According to how thin or thick the liquid was when you first started it has to cook 4, 5, or 6 hours. To see if it is ready take a small amount and pour it on a flat dish. Run you finger down the middle. If it stays separated it is ready, if not cook it longer. I shouldn't be too thick.
