Warm Fruit Compote

½ C sugar
3 T butter
2 Cups fresh berries
1. Combine ½ C water with the sugar & butter & cook over medium-high heat, shaking & stirring, until the mixture is thick & syrupy, but not browned.
2. Toss in the fruit & cook over low heat until the fruit begins to break up & release juices, about 2 minutes. Serve over ice cream
