Ingredients
- Cake:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 box chopped dates
- 1 1/2 cups coconut
- 1 lb candied orange slices, chopped
- 2 cups chopped nute
- Orange sauce:
- 1 cup orange juice
- 2 cups powdered sugar

Step 1
Cake:
Heat oven to 250 degrees.
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time beating well after each addition. Roll dates, orange slices, and nuts in a bit of the flour and set aside. Add flour and milk, alternately. Next add all fruits, nuts, candies, and coconut. Spread in prepared tube pan. It will be very thick. Bake 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Remove from oven and immediately pour orange sauce over hot cake. Let stand at room temp overnight.
Orange sauce:
Mix juice and sugar together until thoroughly combined.
