Ingredients

  • 1/4 Cup Lukewarm Water
  • 1/2 Tsp Sugar
  • 1 Package Yeast
  • 3/4 Cup Scalded Milk
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/4 Cup Shortening
  • 3-1/2 to 3-3/4 Cups Flour

Step 1

Add yeast and 1/2 tsp sugar to lukewarm water. Let stand for 10 minutes. Add shortening, sugar, salt and egg to scalded milk. Mix until shortening melted. Add to yeast mixture. Add half of flour to yeast mixture and beat until smooth. Add rest of flour and knead. Let rise until double. Punch down. Let rise again. Roll dough out to 1/3 inch thick. Cut into doughnut shape. Let rise 40 minutes. Fry in oil.
