Ingredients
- Butter
- 1 cup butter
- 2 1/4 cups packed light brown sugar
- 1 14-ounces can sweetened condensed milk 1 1/4 cups
- 1 cup light color corn syrup
- dash salt
- 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans or cashews
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Preparation
Step 1
Line 9x9x2 inch baking pan with foil extending foil over edges of pan. Generously butter the foil. Set baking pan aside.
Melt 1 cup butter in a heavy 3 quart saucepan over low heat. Add brown sugar sweetened condensed milk corn syrup and salt; mix well. Cook and stir over medium high heat until mixture boils. Clip a candy thermometer to the side of the pan. Reduce heat to medium. Continue boiling mixture at a moderate steady rate stirring frequently for 20 -25 minutes or until the thermometer registers 248 f, firm- ball stage
Remove saucepan from heat remove thermometer. Stir in 3/4 cup of the nuts and the vanilla. Quickly pour mixture into prepared pan. Sprinkle mixture with remaining nuts . Cool completely in pan or a wire rack
Use foil to lift candy out of pan, cut into 1 inch squares. Wrap each square in waxed paper or plastic wrap or place each in square in a paper candy cup
