Ingredients
- 1 cup cold milk
- 1 envelope gelatin
- 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 cups heavy cream, plus additional for garnish

Step 1
Put the milk in a heavy-bottomed pan, sprinkle the gelatin over it, and let soften for 5 minutes. Add the chocolate and sugar and cook over moderate heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate melts and is well blended. Chill until lukewarm. Add the vanilla. Whip the cream until it holds soft peaks, then fold it into the chocolate mixture. Spoon into a mold and freeze. Unmold and serve with whipped cream.
