Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 5 tart apples, pared and sliced

Preparation

Step 1

1. Sift Flour; measure and add baking powder, salt and sugar. Sift again

2. Cut shortening into dry ingredients as for pastry.

3. Add beaten egg and milk

4. Beat thoroughly until well blended.

5. Spread in a greased shallow pan, 8 x 12"

6. Press apple slices over the top and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

Bake at 400F for 25-30 minutes.
