Ingredients

  • 1 lb. raisins
  • 2 lbs. dates, cut in half, length wise
  • 2 lbs. whole walnuts
  • 1 lb. whole red and green cherries (1/2 each)
  • 2 lbs. cut, green, red and yellow pineapple
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. salt

Preparation

Step 1

Mix all ingredients with 3/4 cup of whiskey or brandy. Let stand overnight in a covered pan.

Cream 1 lb. of butter, 1 box of light brown sugar and 1 doz. eggs.

Sift: 5 cups of flour with 2 tsp. baking soda.
Add to cream mixture and add 1/2 cup of brandy or whiskey. Then add fruit mixture.

Line and butter, 2 big loaf and 1 small or 1 big and 3 small loaf pans. Line with brown paper, butter with crisco or cooking spray.

Bake in 270 degree oven with a pan of water on the bottom of the stove.

Bake the large loafs for 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Bake the small loafs for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
