Preparation

Step 1

Easy-peasy homemade dog treats you can whip together in no time and feel good about giving your pup. Try adding in bits of bacon for a very special treat (but give Fido those sparingly).

Makes about 3 dozen medium biscuits

cup whole wheat flour

Preheat the oven to 350º F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, combine the peanut butter, water, and oil.

Add the flours gradually, mixing until the mixture comes together to form a smooth dough, 2 to 3 minutes. (This can also be done by hand, though the kneading will take longer -- 6 to 8 minutes.)

WOW! I am so pleased with the results. Couldn't be happier (and the pups too) LOL. Thanks DAWG. See what I did there? Only thing I would do differently is add some vanilla and honey. I tried it and it was quite bland. You know what they say about bland foods... its NOT yummy. Even for the dogz. Also, a slice of turkey on top will make them the happiest pups in town. Just a few suggestions! (: If you're feeling real crazy, add a cheerio onto half of them or whatnot.

i grind up old fashioned oats to use for flour when i make my dog biscuits. hope it works in this recipe. thanks...thelma

How about substituting some healthy bone broth ( like chicken) for the liquid, and maybe a healthier oil like coconut? Also, I'll try using all whole wheat flour, I don't think my pups will mind! Good to see recipes like this on Food 52! Love the picture
