Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 5 cups water
- 14 oz can diced tomatoes with juice
- 3/4 cup quick cooking barley
- 1/2 cup each celery and carrots
- 2 cups beef stock
- 1/2 tsp basil, dried
- 1 bay leaf
- 9 oz bag frozen veggies, optional

Preparation
Step 1
Brown meat. Add onion and garlic. Cook til tender. Drain fat. Add rest of ingredients (except frozen veggies.) Cover. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. If desired, add frozen veggies and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
