- 10 bratwurst links
- 1 green pepper, sliced lengthwise
- 1 red pepper, sliced lengthwise
- 1 onion, sliced lengthwise
- 2 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
- 2 cups barbecue sauce
- 12 ounces beer, or club soda
- 10 hoagie rolls, or submarine, rolls, split

Preparation
Step 1
1. Place half of bratwurst in bottom of a 5 quart slow cooker. Layer with half of the green pepper, red pepper and onion. Layer remaining bratwurst over top, top with remaining red and green bell peppers, onion and garlic. In a separate bowl, mix HALF of honey mustard sauce, liquid smoke and beer, or club soda. Pour into slow cooker, adding more beer if necessary, to cover everything in the pot. Cover, cook on Low for 4-5 hours.
2. Preheat outdoor grill for high heat, lightly oil grate. Remove bratwurst from slow cooker, but leave onions and peppers inside. Place bratwurst on grill, baste with some of the remaining honey mustard sauce. Turn occasionally until slightly charred.
3. Place bratwurst on rolls, use tongs to pull out a few of the onions and peppers from the slow cooker and drape them over the sausage.
Notes: Used turkey brats for this, which were TERRIBLE. So really couldn't judge the recipe. Would try again.
