Ingredients

  • Frosting:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 Tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 stick butter
  • 6 Tablespoons buttermilk
  • 3 3/4 cups confectioner's sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

1. Sift together first two ingredients.

2. Bring to boil butter, cocoa, water and shortening, then add to flour sugar mix until well blended.

3. Add eggs and blend. Add buttermilk and blend; do not overbeat. Add 1 tsp vanilla and soda mixed together.

4. Bring to boil frosting ingredients, then blend till smooth with mixer, add vanilla and spread on cooled cake.

5. Better if made one day and cut the next.
