Best Tuna Casserole Ever! After I made this my husband and I couldn't stop eating it. It's dangerous stuff! I, like everyone else, made a few changes to the recipe. I'm not a big fan of mushrooms, so I substituted cream of chicken soup and omitted the can of mushrooms. I also didn't have pimiento so I didn't use it. I used 2 cans of tuna instead of 1, and added 1 cup of cheddar cheese and 1 cup of frozen peas. It was creamy and delicious!
Over the years I've made quite a few tuna noodle casseroles and this tops them all! :)"
I made this just this morning... for a quick and easy dinner to pop in oven after work. I was skeptical because of the mayonaise.. I tasted the sauce and fell in love. i added a bit of black pepper to taste and thats it. I also did not have mushrooms or pimentos but substituted cheddar cheese and bacon! I can not wait for dinner tonight.. I will be making this again :)"
Surprisingly enjoyable! I've never made a casserole before...they've just never sounded all that enjoyable. But after a long, tiring weekend, I couldn't bring myself to shop for Sunday dinner. I had most of the ingredients, so I gave this recipe a shot. I didn't have parsley or pimientos, so instead I added a cup of fresh green beans (chopped and sauteed 2 minutes). I also didn't have cream of mushroom, so I reconstituted a handful of dried shitake with some hot half/half (& a dash of cayenne). Thus, I only added 1/2 of the milk called for by the recipe. I used 2 cans of tuna like others suggested, and I sprinkled some paprika on top of the bread crumbs for color.
The result: surprisingly light and fresh tasting. I didn't use anything canned, which I believe was key. This recipe certainly changed my mind about casseroles!
Yummy! Made this last night for my husband and 1 1/2 year old. They both loved it! I've never made a tuna casserole before and this was EASY and came out exactly as I had hoped. Like other reviewers, I added 1 extra can of tuna, 1 C cheddar cheese, 1 C of peas and omitted the pimento. It turned out great.
Moist & Creamy! Made this last night for tonight's Sunday Dinner. Followed recipe with some modifications. Omitted mushrooms and added sliced olives. Added 2 cans tuna, some cream chesse, green peas, green onions and 1 cup of cheddar cheese chunks. Assembled together and put shredded cheddar and croutons ton top. Baked as directed. It was light, moist and very creamy!
The greatest recipe! I use this recipe all the time. I modified it a bit, mostly because I don't always have celery or onion on hand.
I use the milk, cream of mushroom, parsley, pepper, 2 cans of tuna fish and bread crumbs.
This is the BEST! My family ( and unexpected guests) thought this was the BEST they ever had-no questions asked!!!I doubled everything ( and added 1/2 cup additional onions) since I was serving 10 people instead of my normal 4.I served it with pineapple salad and crusty bread. We will certainly have this again and again.
Amazing! I am currently making this again. Its amazing!!!!!
This RECIPE is a KEEPER!!! This is the BEST tuna casserole I've ever had! I adjusted the recipe slightly: I used two cans of tuna, and since I used the last of my mushrooms yesterday, I had to do without them today. I also omitted the pimiento, but added 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese . It was GREAT! My husband loved it too. In fact, we couldn't quit eating ... 'just a little bit more!' I served it with a side salad and a loaf of warm multi-grain bread with real butter and the meal was delicious! I'll definitely make this again!
