Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef short ribs
  • 1 lg can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup each chopped onion, celery, and carrots
  • 1 heaping tsp each chicken base and beef base
  • 2 tblsp flour
  • Salt and pepper

Step 1

Dry off the short ribs and dust them with the flour and salt and pepper. Heat some olive oil in a saucepan. In batches, brown the ribs very well, on all sides. Remove to the side and place the diced veg in the pot. Sauté for a few minutes till they are soft. Now return the meat to the pot and add your tomatoes and a can of water. Add the soup base.
This needs to simmer until the meat is very tender, approx 3-4 hours.
