Ingredients
- 2 cups chopped onion
- 2 Tablespoons minced garlic
- 1 cup chopped red bell pepper
- 1/4 cup dry sherry
- ( or mirin, a Japanese condiment similar to rice wine )
- 1 pound hamburger
- 2 cups water
- 2 Tablespoons cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
- 3 Tablespoons chili powder
- 2 cups stewed tomatoes
- ( tomato sauce works in a pinch )
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Combine all ingredients in a large pot. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer for about an hour.
